Reverend Alisa Lasater-Wailoo
Capitol Hill United Methodist Church
Washington, DC
Date of Prayer: 03/01/2011
Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Ever–Present God, we know you by many names, but, most striking, you know us and each person we represent here by name and through love.
God who heals, we pray for the full restoration of Rep. Giffords and for the personal struggles of each person here. Remind us that we’re wrapped in your arms first as your beloved children and then as your servant leaders.
Uniting God, Give us the wisdom to understand how to work together for the plight of your people in need. Save us from ourselves and surprise us with shared solutions for the problems your children face this day.
God of all, we represent not only those who have our ear but those who have no voice. So let us not raise our hands to vote without bowing our hearts to your will. Through your love that changes the world, we pray. Amen.
