The Office of the Chaplain United States House of Representatives

Reverend Aaron Damiani

Church of the Resurrection
Washington, DC

Date of Prayer: 06/25/2012

Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:

Almighty God,

We thank you for establishing the vocation of public service. On behalf of the men and women of this body, we ask for your grace to carry out their work without partiality. May they exercise their authority with wisdom, so that our country may be governed in the way of peace.

Grant each member of Congress a concern for a rightly ordered public life, so that justice may roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever–flowing stream. Strengthen the bonds of trust among the elected officials gathered here, and the ones serving throughout this great land. May honesty and goodwill define their common labor.

Oh God, our help in ages past, do not let our country be overcome by evil, but let us overcome evil with good. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, AMEN
