The Office of the Chaplain United States House of Representatives

Reverend Dr. Dan C. Cummins

Peoples Church
Jacksonville, TX

Date of Prayer: 05/01/2018

Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:

Lord, make us instruments of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, let us grant pardon; where there is doubt, let us build faith; where there is despair, let us restore one's hope.

Father, make us vessels of Your joy. Let the sowers of Thy grace remain in the field, lest nefarious winds scatter hate and despair.

Jesus, make us bearers of Your light to dispel any darkness so our house is kept swept, lest our joy become lost. Let this House become as thine, a house of prayer.

Oh, Divine Master, grant that we may not so much seek to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that You pardon us. For it was in dying that You gave us eternal life.

In Jesus' name, amen.
