Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Heavenly Father, I come to the God of Daniel and Nehemiah, men who served You while filling government posts, and did so with excellence, and I pray: Grant those who serve in this House wisdom, ethical integrity, and concern for their constituents and the needs of this land.
I come to the God of Cornelius, who wore the uniform of his government and carried a sword, and I pray: Watch over all those in various uniforms who sacrifice for others––whether they run toward the sound of guns, the crackle of flames, or the screech of metal and rubber––and bring them home safely to the ones they love.
For Your glory, for the sake of this Nation, for the sake of the men and women in this Hall, and those that support and love them, bless us, I pray. In the name of Christ, Your Son. Amen.
