Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Almighty God, the United States of America is a country particularly blessed. The Founders of our country believed that it was only by Your ever–provident hand that this country was born. Today, we believe that it is only by Your grace and favor that this country will endure.
We beseech Your blessing upon this House of Representatives, who, at their best, assemble to propose and to debate and to legislate the laws that will keep our country secure, thriving, and just, always cooperating with Your divine spirit. We rely on that spirit today, Lord, and thank You for Your hearing and for Your mercy.
Bless each House Member, their families, and their staffs, that they may know Your strength and encouragement and always the peace of the kingdom where You reign, today and forever. Amen.
