Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Awesome and Almighty God, we come before You today remembering the powerful principle outlined in Mark 1:35–38.
It says: ‘‘Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him. When they found him, they exclaimed: Everyone is looking for You.''
God, give us the courage and wisdom to follow the example of Jesus. In the midst of endless demands, may we find time early in the morning to be with You and to seek Your will for our days. Through that time, may You restore us and strengthen us for what lies ahead. Time with You reminds us that we are not abandoned in our journey. Although You have placed great responsibilities on our shoulders, we do not carry this burden alone.
On a number of occasions, King David calls You his fortress, his hiding place, and his refuge. Thank You, God, for being a place we can run to. Truly, there is none like You and none beside You.
May Your blessing and favor rest upon the Members of this body, their teams, their families, and our country. I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus.
Amen.
