Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Awesome and almighty God, we come before You today remembering the words of 2 Peter 3:8–9: "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends, with the Lord a day is like 1,000 years, and 1,000 years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with You, not wanting anyone to
perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
God, we thank You for being patient with us. We thank You for loving us, and we are grateful that Your desire is that no one would perish. You have assigned great value to the life that You create.
I pray that we would see our fellow man today with Your eyes, O God. May we be patient with one another as You have been patient with us, may we love one another as You have loved us, and may we follow Your example in valuing all life and rejoicing in repentance.
Please protect our troops and inspire our leaders to lead with strength, wisdom, and humility. I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
