One Minute Speech Given in Recognition of the Guest Chaplain:
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to thank Dr. Brent Carr for that prayer and for the spirit in which it was given. It was a reminder of our need for God's guidance, wisdom, and grace in this body and in our daily lives.
I thank his beautiful wife, Katie, and their girls for being here with him.
For over a decade, Dr. Carr has worked with families, young people, and churches across the country, often supporting them through some of their most challenging moments. That kind of work doesn't make headlines, but it does reflect a life committed to serving others and to sharing the hope we have in Christ.
He also serves as president of Carolina Bible College, an institution that played an important role in my life and continues to equip men and women to live out their faith and to serve in their communities.
I am grateful for his leadership and proud to have him here, representing South Carolina's Third District today.
Thank you, Dr. Carr, you are a friend, a mentor,
and a faithful servant.
Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with humility and gratitude, acknowledging that You are the sovereign God who raises up nations and sustains them by Your providence.
In this place of leadership, we recognize that every good gift our Nation has received has come from Your hand of grace.
For nearly 250 years, Lord, You have shown remarkable faithfulness to the United States through wars, trials, testing, and prosperity.
Like General George Washington knelt in the snow of Valley Forge and prayed that we confess that we are in need of Your guidance and Your protection, we pray that today. For our strength does not come from affluence or from armies, but our strength comes from Almighty God.
Bless today the leaders that are gathered in this Capitol. Lord, grant them, wisdom, courage, and humility as they lead us in truth and justice for all.
Forgive us where we have strayed from Your ways. Lord, we ask today, as we feel Your presence in this place, that You would draw the heart of America back to You.
For Thine is the kingdom and Thine is the power and Thine is the glory forever and ever. In Jesus' name. Amen.
