God of the Nations,
You have chosen many and various ways to show your presence in the world. You have been a guiding light in dark times and a refuge against the storms of life.
We ask you to send the Spirit of Your holy wisdom and compassion to the Members of the 111th Congress who gather here for this most important work.
Strengthen them in their work for justice.
Lead them in their work for peace.
Guide them as they speak and act for all,
who would call this great land their home.
Bless their families and bless them in their work today.
Grant them the opportunity and the serenity, O Lord, to reflect on all they have achieved so far and unite them in a common vision inspired by Your love.
We ask this in the Name of the One, who calls each of us by name.
Amen.
