The Office of the Chaplain United States House of Representatives

Reverend Dr. Dan C. Cummins

Peoples Church
Jacksonville, TX

Date of Prayer: 08/24/2018

Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:

Our Father, let us walk worthy of the vocation wherein we are called, with all lowliness and meekness, long–suffering, forbearing one another
in love, keeping the peaceful unity of the Spirit. For You have given grace to us all according to the gift of Christ.

Let us speak the truth in love, putting on the new man, which is created in Your righteousness and holiness. And putting away lying, let us speak truth to our neighbor, for we are members one of another.

When angry, may we sin not: neither give place to the devil, and let no corrupt communication proceed out of our mouth but that which is
edifying.

And let us not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.

May all bitterness, wrath, anger, and evil speaking be put away. And let us be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as You, for Christ's sake, hath forgiven us. We ask this in Jesus' name.

Amen.
