Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Lord of all hopefulness, we come before You today in this Chamber where democracy is respected and the voices of the American people are heard.
Grant the legislators who represent their constituents the gift of wisdom to craft laws that promote justice and bring us together as a people.
Keep us safe as a nation so in our prosperity, we may help other countries to flourish, for we are all Your children.
Finally, dear Lord, give to the Members of this body, the virtue of courage in difficult times, the virtue of charity in all times, and at the end of the day, the certain knowledge that they have served their country well. Amen.
