One Minute Speech Given in Recognition of the Guest Chaplain:

Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:

Eternal God, we pause on this day to acknowledge Your presence in this sacred place.

O Lord, while we are thankful for a new day with brand–new mercies, we come acknowledging that our Nation needs You now more than ever.

Our Nation cries out to You this morning for Your guidance, yearns for Your mercy, and hungers for Your healing touch.

As the legislative work of this day unfolds, may this Chamber, built by enslaved men and women, be a sacred place where the truth is spoken boldly, justice is pursued relentlessly, and the welfare of all people is sought with compassion.

Help us, O Lord, to remember that the measure of a nation is not in its wealth or its power, but in how it treats the least, the lost, and the left behind.

Bless the elected Members of this House.

Convict those who seek to do Your children harm. Let integrity be their compass, humility their posture, and the truth their unwavering aim.

Remind them, O Lord, that the world is equally balanced between good and evil, and their next act will tip the scale.

In Your name we do pray. Amen.
