Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Gracious Lord, in the wilderness when You saw the hungry crowds, Your Son looked upon them with compassion and provided for their needs.
Today, we pray for the Members of the House of Representatives. Grant them hearts that are moved by that same compassion. Help them to see the people they have been called to serve––each created in Your image and deeply loved by You.
May they seek not only what is politically expedient, but what is just and for the common good.
May all who serve here be instruments of Your peace, reflecting compassion to a Nation in need.
We pray in Your loving name. Amen.
