Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Almighty God, “The heavens declare Your glory, and the skies proclaim the work of Your hands.”
You have called the Members of this great House to service in this consequential hour. You have protected our beloved nation through every passing storm. And You have granted Your divine wisdom to this august assembly to guide our Sacred Union.
Pour out Your blessing upon these House members: bless them with hearts knit together in harmony, and counsel to govern wisely. Give them conviction to seek justice, integrity to govern selflessly, and shepherd hearts to faithfully protect and care for our American people.
Lord, You who walk upon the wings of the wind: We lift up to You now our valiant wingmen and warriors who faithfully defend our cherished freedoms.
As we celebrate this week seventy–nine storied years of our United States Air Force, empower today’s courageous Airmen to mount up with wings as eagles, to run and not grow weary, and to walk and not faint. Shield them under the shadow of Your protective wings, and uphold their devoted families with Your everlasting arms.
Now to You who are able to keep us from falling, be all honor, power, and glory, both now and forevermore. Amen.
