One Minute Speech Given in Recognition of the Guest Chaplain:

Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:

Awesome, almighty God, we come before You today on behalf of the Members of this body, their staff teams, their families, and our country. Every two years around this time, emotions are high and many feel like their hope and their future hang in the balance. Every issue, big and small, is magnified, and the prospect of coming up short can take you to a place of great fear or even despair.

But our hope and our future, our peace of mind and our joy are too valuable to be entrusted to our efforts and our government alone.

We remember the words of Psalm 40:4–5:
‘‘Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie. You have multiplied, O Lord my God, Your wondrous deeds and Your thoughts toward us; none can compare with You. I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.''

For whatever is ahead, we trust You, O Lord! For whoever will sit in these seats, we know You will prepare them for the moment! For any difficult or murky situations we will encounter, we believe You will provide in abundance! Give us confidence today to trust You with what You have already written! Also, bless and protect our troops.

We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
