Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:
Lord, we praise You for the wonders of Your creation, for the miracles You have wrought and will continue to work in our lives. We thank You for the great resources of this land and for the freedom which has been its heritage. Lord, forgive us our sins that we as a nation and as individuals have committed, and give us a renewed hope in Your divine mercy. Grant us a fruitful economy born of justice and charity. Inspire our President and all the officials of our government to serve the people of the United States with equity and integrity. Guide the Members of the House of Representatives gathered here today. Grant them the courage to speak with the voice of the people they represent. Bestow upon them the wisdom to seek what is pleasing in Your eyes and what is conformable with the freedom and happiness of the American people. Amen.
